Where Science Meets Performance

Vancouver's most advanced training facility

Our Story

Who We Really Are

Look, we're not your typical gym with rows of treadmills and some dumbbells thrown in the corner. Started this place back in 2018 because honestly, I got tired of seeing athletes train without any real data or science backing their work.

We've built something different here at QuantumSpire. Every program's backed by actual sports science - not just what some influencer says worked for them. Our trainers aren't just certified, they've been in the trenches themselves, competed at high levels, rehabbed their own injuries, and yeah... made plenty of mistakes along the way so you don't have to.

The name? People ask about that all the time. "Quantum" represents the smallest unit of change - those tiny improvements that stack up over time. "Spire" is about reaching higher. Cheesy? Maybe a bit, but it stuck.

We've worked with everyone from weekend warriors trying to get back in shape to Olympic hopefuls fine-tuning their performance. What they all get is the same thing - real expertise, equipment that actually works, and a team that genuinely gives a damn about results.

Our Journey So Far

The milestones that shaped who we are today

2018

The Beginning

Started with just 1200 sq ft and a dream. Had maybe 3 clients who believed in what we were trying to do. Equipment was second-hand but functional. Everyone thought we were crazy opening another gym in Vancouver.

2019

First Big Win

One of our athletes qualified for nationals. Word started getting around. Added our first InBody scanner because honestly, the calipers weren't cutting it anymore. Hired two more coaches who actually knew their stuff.

2020

The Pivot Year

Yeah, COVID hit. Like everyone else, we scrambled. Built out virtual training programs, outdoor sessions in the park. Learned a ton about remote coaching. Lost some clients but gained others who appreciated that we adapted instead of just shutting down.

2022

Major Expansion

Moved to our current space on Burrard. Triple the size. Added a dedicated recovery area with cryo and compression therapy. Brought on a sports nutritionist full-time. Finally got that Keiser equipment I'd been eyeing for years.

2024

Recognition & Growth

Got featured in Vancouver Magazine as "Best Performance Training Facility." Team grew to 12 specialized coaches. Started working with two professional sports teams. Still feels surreal sometimes.

2025

Today & Tomorrow

Over 300 active members now. Launching our sports science lab next month. But honestly? We're still the same crew that cares more about your progress than anything else. Just with better toys and more experience.

Meet The Team

The people who'll actually be working with you

Marcus Chen
Head Coach

Marcus Chen

CSCS, MS Exercise Physiology

Former college track athlete who learned the hard way what bad coaching looks like. Spent 8 years working with Olympic development programs before starting this place. Still competes in masters track - gotta practice what you preach, right?

Strength & Conditioning Speed Development Olympic Lifting
Sarah Martinez
Performance Director

Sarah Martinez

PhD Sports Science, CSCS, PES

Did her doctorate research on power development in team sports. Yeah, she's the smart one who keeps us honest with the science stuff. Works mainly with our competitive athletes but she's got this gift for explaining complex biomechanics in ways that actually make sense.

Movement Analysis Power Training Return to Sport
Jamie Kowalski
Nutrition Lead

Jamie Kowalski

RD, CSSD, MS Nutrition

Worked with national soccer teams before joining us. Won't give you some cookie-cutter meal plan - actually takes time to figure out what'll work with your lifestyle. Big believer that if you can't stick to it, it's useless no matter how "optimal" it is.

Sports Nutrition Body Composition Meal Planning
David Thompson
Rehab Specialist

David Thompson

PT, DPT, CSCS, ATC

Our injury guy. Came from working with a professional hockey team. If you're coming back from surgery or dealing with chronic pain, Dave's your person. Super patient, which is good because rehab is slow and kinda boring - but he makes it bearable.

Injury Prevention Post-Rehab Training Mobility Work
Rachel Park
Strength Coach

Rachel Park

CSCS, USAW-L2, BS Kinesiology

Competed in weightlifting nationally for years. Great with beginners who are intimidated by the barbell - she'll have you comfortable with it faster than you'd think. Also runs our small group strength sessions which honestly have the best energy in the gym.

Barbell Training Group Coaching Functional Strength
Elena Volkov
Recovery Specialist

Elena Volkov

RYT-500, LMT, CES

Used to be a professional dancer before a knee injury changed her path. Now she's all about helping people move better and recover smarter. Runs our mobility classes and manages the recovery area. Don't let the zen vibe fool you - she'll call you out if you're skipping your cooldowns.

What We Actually Stand For

Not just words on a website - this is how we run things day-to-day

Evidence-Based

Every program's built on actual research, not whatever's trending on Instagram this week. We test, we measure, we adjust. If something's not working, we don't keep doing it just because it's "always been done that way."

Individualized

Your body's not the same as everyone else's, so why would your training be? We actually take time to understand your history, your goals, your limitations. Cookie-cutter programs are easier to sell - but they don't work as well.

Safety First

Yeah, we push people. But there's a difference between challenging and reckless. We're not gonna let you do something stupid that'll land you in physio for six months. Progress means nothing if you're injured.

Long-Term Thinking

Not interested in 30-day transformations or quick fixes. We're building sustainable habits and real strength that'll last. It's less sexy to market but way more effective. Your 60-year-old self will thank you.

QuantumSpire Training Equipment

Our Facility & Equipment

We've got 5,000 sq ft of training space on Burrard Street. Not the biggest gym in Vancouver, but everything in here serves a purpose. No machines that look impressive but nobody uses.

  • Full Olympic lifting platforms with Eleiko bars
  • Keiser pneumatic equipment for speed work
  • 30-meter sprint track with timing gates
  • Dedicated recovery room with NormaTec and Game Ready
  • InBody 770 for body composition analysis
  • Force plate technology for jump and power testing
  • Private training rooms for one-on-one sessions

Everything's maintained obsessively. Broken equipment gets fixed or replaced immediately - nothing worse than showing up ready to train and the thing you need is out of order.

Ready to Start?

Come check out the facility, meet the team, and let's figure out if we're a good fit for what you're trying to accomplish. First consultation's always free - no pressure, no sales pitch.
